Hungarians top social network usage

Hungary has a higher percentage of social network users in the 16-74 age group than any other country in the EU.

Data produced by the European Commission’s Eurostat shows that the figure stands at 83%, with Malta (82%) in second place and Belgium in third, the EU average being 63%.

Among younger people aged 16-24, almost 9 in 10 (88%) internet users participated in social networks, with the share ranging from 77% in France and 80% in Slovenia to 97% in Belgium, Denmark and Hungary.

Among older EU internet users aged 65 -74, almost a third (32%) participated in social networks.

The share was below 50% in almost all EU Member States except for Belgium (56%), Hungary (55%), Malta (51%) and Portugal (50%).
